.sk is the national top-level domain of Slovakia, managed by the SK-NIC registry. For a website or e-shop aimed at the Slovak market it is as natural a choice as .cz is for Czechia – Slovak customers see it as a local address.

The key change came on September 1, 2017: since then, anyone can register .sk, including Czech companies and individuals. The earlier requirement of a Slovak entity was dropped, so a Czech company can run .sk without setting up a branch in Slovakia.

Czech companies expanding to Slovakia therefore usually keep both extensions – .cz and .sk – and point them to the same website or to localized versions. You manage both the domain and DNS with us from a single Client Zone.

When the .sk extension is a good fit

The trust of Slovak customers
For the Slovak market, .sk is the home address – it seems more trustworthy than a foreign extension.
Available to Czech companies too
Since 2017 without the requirement of a Slovak entity, so expanding to SK does not require a branch.
Add-on to .cz
Ideal as a second extension alongside .cz for companies operating in both countries.
Quick registration
The domain is usually active shortly after the order is paid.
